Yar’Adua charges Army on Niger Delta Restiveness - Vanguard

ABUJA—PRESIDENT Umaru Yar’Adua has charged the Nigerian Army to apply the lesson learnt from the just-concluded Exercise Eagle Ring V Training to tackle militancy and youth restiveness in the Niger Delta.

The president who was represented by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale, gave the charge in Kontogora, Niger State at the end of the training by 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos to test its state of preparedness.
The president said the activities of militants and youth restiveness in the area had become a major security problem and a threat to the survival of the nation as democratic entity.
