Despite the seeming battle for supremacy between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC and the office of the Attorney General of the Federation Chief Michael Aookonda SAN, the EFCC Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has said President Umaru Musa Yar Adua is solidly behind him.

Speaking yesterday on BBC Hausa Service Mallam Nuhu Ribadu said the president is behind the EFCC in the fight against corruption.

"The President said the fight against corruption is his own fight. He said he is very serious and committed to it. So if the president has said this then what else do we need", he added.


The EFCC chairman further stated that contrary to speculations, President Yar'adua has never interfered with the workings and activities of the commission, adding that 'the president has given us free hand to operate'. Full Story
